If your vision of romance is a little skewed or your idea of a fun vacation just a little bit offbeat, dont worry there are vacations for you and your sweetie that will roll right up your ally.

If the idea of lazing around a beach just doesnt seem like fun, and you have an adventurers spirit, try canyoneering. You can do this in the US or abroad. If you dont have much experience and only want a taste of adventure in your vacation, try Costa Rica. They have a canyoning tour that only lasts four hours, yet includes rappelling down a waterfall! If you dont think that a kid friendly tour can live up to your sense of adventure, then look at the tours the Sierra Club sponsors. You can go and spend 2 weeks trekking through Arizona with a 50lb pack, a tour guide, and your love. What could be more romantic than having a near death experience with the person of your dreams?

If you want a little bit of community service in your vacation, why not go and volunteer in a third world country? Orphanages every where can always benefit from the caring touch you have to offer. It will give you a unique opportunity to see your significant other in a capacity that you wouldnt get to see before also! If you are travelling during sea turtle hatching season, why not go to the beach and spend a few nights helping the little buggers find their way to the ocean. Doing community service is good for your soul, and it will be a learning experience for you. You will learn about yourself, another culture, and the person you care about!

Who said that vacations have to be centered around beaches and sight seeing? Your vacation can be whatever you want it to be, and if you are looking for a honeymoon then so be it! Too many couples can tell stories of white sand beaches and sunburns, but how many of then can tell how they hugged a child, saved a life, or jumped off of a 60 ft cliff into water of an unknown depth with 50lbs on their back? Not too many.
